Employment Law

We are often asked if there is a difference between HR and Employment Law.
In reality there is a lot of overlap between the two.

As HR Advisors we provide Human Resource support to our clients to manage issues which apply to employees or workers such as, recruitment, training, pay and benefits, employee relations and more straightforward workplace issues which arise during the course of the employment relationship. Whilst we provide HR advice to our clients to help them improve their people practices whilst working within the parameters of UK employment legislation, we are not Employment Solicitors.

Employment Law is best practised by solicitors and is the legal framework made up of the various parliamentary statutes, statutory instruments, regulations and codes of practice, guidelines and case law precedent which applies to the employment relationship. Their role is to stipulate the legal rights and responsibilities of both employers and employees within the relevant legislation and apply that to the everyday employment relations matters arising.

Independent Legal Support

In addition to our in-house team of HR experts we have a strategic relationship with specialist employment lawyers Jones Chase. We have worked with one of its partners, Shona Newmark, for over twenty years.
